Analysis of Transient Interactions between a PWR Nuclear Power Plant and a Faulted Electricity Grid

This paper presents the transient stability analysis of a pressurised water-type nuclear power plant following faults and disturbances affecting electricity grid to which it is connected. The modelled consists various integrated subsystems, such as core neutronics thermal-hydraulics, piping plenum, pressuriser, steam generator, turbine, governor, dynamics shaft, in addition turbine-speed controller. nonlinear model linearised at operating point acquire linear for controller design. control loop effectively enacts closed-loop implementation connected electric grid. enhancement components system stabiliser, static var compensator, synchronous compensator are employed test performance during severe contingencies. interaction between plant, grid, protection studied under scenarios single-phase fault, three-phase permanent load loss. further observed load-following operation. dynamic behaviour overall analysed using simulations MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape environment.
